- CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) elevated in cancers of the colon, rectum, lung, breast, and
- pancreas
- CA-125 elevated in cancers of the ovary and uterus
- CA 19-9 elevated in cancers of the colon, pancreas, stomach and liver
- CA 15-3 elevated in breast cancer
- Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) elevated in primary liver cancer and some cancers of the testis
- HCG (human chorionic elevated in some cancers of the testis and ovary and some lung
- gonadotropin) cancers also elevated in pregnancy
- Prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) markedly elevated in some cases of prostate cancer
- Serum protein electrophoresis helpful in diagnosing prostate cancer, in detecting recurrent disease
- and in guiding treatment
- Serum protein adnormal gamma globulin (monoclonal "spike") is found in
- multiple myeloma
- immunoeletrophoresis globulin present
- (IgG, IgA, IgM)
